"TORN" Trailer

Baltimore-based Actor/Film Producer moves forward through personal tragedy and hosts Celebrity Red Carpet Event to Benefit Lou Gherig's Disease (ALS) at the Senator Theatre (Baltimore, MD)—Walter Maxfield Jones is an actor and film producer whose accomplishments can rightfully deem him a local celebrity, including hosting the longest running open mic and poetry event in the country for the past 13 years—Warm Wednesdays (which in 2004 was given its own "Annual Day" in Baltimore by former Mayor, now MD Governor O'Malley). However, in 2008, Jones was faced with one of his biggest and most life-altering challenges when his mother was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), more commonly known as Lou Gherig's disease. In an instant, her prognosis changed everything--instead of gracing stages all over the country, Walter Maxfield Jones' leading role became fulltime care-giver to his mother. ALS is a rapidly progressive fatal neuromuscular disease which results in over 80% of people with the disease dying of ALS within two to five years of diagnosis. According to the National ALS Association and based on U.S. population studies, a little over 5,600 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with ALS each year, which is approximately 15 new cases per day. Statistically, 90% of home care is being shouldered financially and physically by family caregivers. After a year and a half battle, on July 16, 2009, Walter Maxfield Jones' mother—Ms. Joyce Duckworth passed away from complications related to ALS. However, her transition and the courage she showed throughout her illness ignited a desire in Jones to help, educate and continue to donate in her honor to research being done by the foundation that was so instrumental to his mother after her diagnosis-- The Robert Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins. Walter Maxfield Jones' upcoming Celebrity event at the Senator Theatre will be dedicated to the cause. On Sunday, June 13, 2010, the highly anticipated Red Carpet Premiere of the Movie "Torn" starring Walter Maxfield Jones (Award Winning Actor and Baltimore-based film maker) and Wil "Onix" Lash (star VH1's reality TV hit "I Love New York") will take place at The Senator Theatre (5904 York Rd, Baltimore, Maryland 21212) starting at 6pm. Partial proceeds from the event will benefit The Robert Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins in honor of Joyce Duckworth. It will be a night of celebration, networking and entertainment featuring a lavish VIP Reception, Movie Presentation, Meet & Greet with the Cast, and Industry Networking After Party. The event promises to be nothing short of spectacular with an exclusive VIP guest list that includes media, sports figures, celebrity appearances and a few surprises. "Torn" is the story of a loving and devoted husband who discovers his wife is having an affair with his son's basketball coach. While drowning his sorrows at a local bar, he encounters beautiful, sexy Jasmine who possesses everything he desires in a woman. It's instant chemistry! But he loves his wife. What will he decide now that he finds himself TORN? Will he retaliate and cheat breaking up his home in pursuit of Jasmine or stay faithful for the sake of his son and give his adulterous wife a second chance? However, the evening is not just the Baltimore debut of an exceptional cinematographic collaboration and most meaningful charity event, but the launch of a movement called "InDCity." InDCity is the brainchild of movie director Frank E. Jackson, Jr. and is based on his vision to locally produce unprecedented quality movies and make the DC Metropolitan area (DC/MD/VA) a major hub for great movies and independent film production. InDCity will also bring new opportunities for local actors, internships for aspiring movie directors and producers, and educational platforms for young people to learn the film industry. Media and Press for Live Coverage on the Red Carpet are invited--For more information and to RSVP, contact: Charmel McMillan/ Char-Town Entertainment at char-town@msn.com or call 301-412-9808. ***Tickets for this event are on sale now and may be purchased at: www.sunjada.com.
